NIGHTLIFE IN SOLIDARITY

“Nightlife in Solidarity” is a fundraiser for migrants. It offers members and institutions of Swiss nightlife an opportunity to use their structures, skills and resources in solidarity. The aim is to raise at least 40,000 francs by October 2024 for projects that directly and practically support people on the move.
What we do
“Nightlife in Solidarity” is a fundraising campaigns for migrants. In October 2024, nightlife in Switzerland is showing solidarity: clubs can participate by donating part of the entrance fee at one of their events, and on 26 October 2024, a party at Dynamo (Zurich) will conclude the fundraising campaign. A QR code enables further donations anywhere and anytime.
The aim is to raise at least 40,000 swiss francs. All proceeds will be donated to four projects that directly and practically support people on the move. Most of us could do more against oppressive migration regimes. One of many ways is to financially support effective work. “Nightlife in Solidarity” offers members and institutions of Swiss nightlife an opportunity to use their structures, skills and resources in solidarity. We invite cultural establishments and culture enthusiasts from all over Switzerland to participate, whether as organizers, visitors, or donors.
This project is coordinated by a group of people from Zurich’s nightlife.

The organizations
Refugees in Libya
Refugees in Libya is a self-organized movement of refugees in Libya. The network calls for an end to the violence against refugees in Libya and campaigns for their evacuation. It also provides day-to-day support for people stranded in Libya and carries out important public relations work. (https://www.refugeesinlibya.org)
Legal Center Lesvos
The Legal Center Lesvos has been offering free and individual legal advice and assistance to migrants who have come to Lesvos by sea since August 2016. As part of local and international movements, the Legal Center Lesvos is also committed to collective justice and structural change, for example by documenting violations of migrants' rights or through strategic litigation and public relations work. The Legal Center Lesvos advocates for equal access to safe and legal migration routes in Greece, Europe and worldwide. (https://legalcentrelesvos.org)
Alarm Phone
Alarm Phone is a transcontinental network of activists from Senegal to Tunisia and Switzerland. For almost ten years, Alarm Phone has been operating a 24/7 hotline for refugees in distress at sea and associated documentation and awareness-raising work. Alarm Phone has already assisted several thousand boats in distress at sea. (https://alarmphone.org)
VSF Group
The VSF Group provides direct aid for queer people on the move. Queer people are exposed to particular dangers during their journey - often even beforehand - and need support. The project supports queer people in West Africa who have to flee because of their sexual identity. People who are outed as queer often lose their entire social safety net (family and local community) and are also excluded from the job market. That is why the collective helps to take on bills as a community, insure the most vulnerable people in the community, provide safe housing and support queer people when they have to leave their country.
